Unemployed Fresh Graduates Are Urged To Take Full Advantage of Career Advancement Project

A fresh graduate’s main concern is always finding for a suitable job and even more so if they’re stuck in the middle of a pandemic.

If you’re having difficulties landing a job, fret not as Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has urged unemployed students who have graduated in 2019 and 2020 to make full use of the Career Advancement Programme (CAP) – also known as Penjana KPT-CAP to increase your marketability and skills.

The Penjana KPT-CAP was launched yesterday (28 Sept) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). It ensures employment for students after they finish their designated courses under the programme and will also help individuals to upskill their entrepreneurship skills to earn income and become “job creators” as reported by The Star.

“The courses are designed to suit the needs and wants of participating companies who will take on the graduates as their employees,” says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The government has set aside RM100mil for this from the RM2bil allocated for training and upskilling under the nation’s economic recovery plan.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad also has high hopes for this project as an estimated 41,161 graduates are still unemployed even after graduating in 2019, and another 75,000 graduates this year could have the same fate making it a grand total of 161,161 candidates who would need immediate attention to upgrade their marketability.

She also stated that the Penjana KPT-CAP will be in good use for at least 20,000 graduates, and 140 programmes have been set by no less than 100 companies.

It’s great news that the government is lending a hand towards fresh graduates who have been unemployed. So, if you’ve been out of work for a while, here’s a chance to do something about that.
