Harley Quinn Teams Up With Bad B*tches For Birds Of Prey’s First Trailer
No more clowning around! Warner Bros. released the first full trailer for Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), a Suicide Squad spin-off starring Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn. The trailer shows DC’s Harley living life without Joker (a smart move) and teaming up with an all-female superhero gang to release havoc.
Looking better than ever, this team of bad b*tches includes Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), to save young Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) from Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) a ruthless crime lord who operates out of Gotham City.
The trailer opens with Harley drunkenly confiding in Black Canary at a bar. “You know what a harlequin is?” she slurs. “A harlequin’s role is to serve. It’s nothing without a master”. Like most break-ups, we see she got a makeover by cutting off her iconic blue-dyed ponytail and unlike most break-ups, engaging in target practice with her ex-bae’s image.
Harley’s beloved pet hyenas – Bud and Lou are set to make their big-screen debut too as she was seen sharing a red liquorice with one of the savages – Lady & The Tramp style.
While the main antagonist is Black Mask, the heroines will have to deal with the crazed serial killer, Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina), who carves his own face to mark each of his kills. Yikes! Watch the trailer here:
FYI: Cassandra is also one of several characters who took on the role of Batgirl in DC’s comics, but so far there’s no indication if that’s the course her character will take. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
Birds of Prey from director Cathy Yan will be hitting the cinemas on February 7, 2020.
