German Court Rules Hangovers are a Legit “Illness”
A German court in Frankfurt has ruled that hangovers are an “illness”, just days after the 186th annual Oktoberfest began on 21 September 2019. According to BBC, the case was taken against a firm that made illegal health claims about its anti-hangover “shots” and powders.
It’s illegal in Germany to make claims that food products, including drinks and supplements can cure human ailments or illnesses. And now, hangovers are consider an illness.
“Information about a food product cannot ascribe any properties for preventing, treating or healing any human illness or give the impression of such a property,” the superior regional court ruling’s said.
“By an illness, one should understand even small or temporary disruptions to the normal state or normal activity of the body,” the ruling continued.
Other than feeling like s**t, hangovers commonly come with “tiredness, nausea, and headaches”, which the company claimed that their products could cure.
In fact, “veisalgia” is a specialist medical term for hangovers.
So, this means they can mabuk and take MC for tomorrow ah?
