Jom Raya and Balik Kampung with Red Bull and MotoGP Rider, Hafizh Syahrin
The months of Ramadan and Syawal are synonymous to spending quality time with family and those who matter most. These days are usually filled with reflecting on oneself, strengthening our connection with God, mending our relationship with our family and eating a lot of food.
Coloured green with ketupat, red with mercun, pink and purple with soda F&N and orange with the ember from pelitas, the days leading up to Syawal as well as Syawal itself are an explosion of merry hues.
However, for Malaysian MotoGP rider, Hafizh Syahrin, Ramadan and Syawal looks like any other day, coloured grey from the tracks where he spends his days and nights training and racing. Despite that, his hard work and sacrifice has not been unacknowledged because he is the first ever Southeast Asian to participate in the MotoGP category which is the premier motorcycle racing World Championship. Malaysians are so proud and thankful of Hafizh for his unrelenting passion that put Malaysia on the map.
With that said, this year, Red Bull has launched a campaign called Red Bull My Raya Pledge to help bring Hafizh home to celebrate Syawal with his family so he can, after three arduous years, relive the fulfilling joy and excitement of our engrained balik kampung culture.
Red Bull’s mission is to garner a minimum of 1,000 Raya pledges from Malaysians in order to catalyse its own pledge of bringing Hafizh home from the Italian GP so he can throw out his track suit for a dapper baju melayu to celebrate Syawal.
The Red Bull My Raya Pledge has a simple overarching goal, which is to become your energy drink of choice during long, tiring journeys back to your hometown. After all, there’s nothing more refreshing than a can of ice cold Red Bull. Ahh, I can hear the snap and fizzing that comes when opening a fresh can… The temptations of Ramadhan 😩
To submit your Raya pledge is very straightforward and uncomplicated. All you have to do is send something as personal as, “I pledge to make the most of my time with my family during this Ramadan” or you can opt for more detailed mission statements like, “I pledge to work hard and earn enough money to buy that sexy new Proton SUV to show off to that gadis ayu back at kampung.” The options are limitless and the contest is too since it is open to all Malaysians in celebration of the welcoming nature of Aidilfitri.
As for the prizes, participants have a chance of winning Red Bull product, Touch ‘n Go eWallet reload pin, fuel vouchers and Touch n Go card with credit. The grand prize winner will win an ultimate Open House from Red Bull.
Enough of what I have to say about the contest, here’s what Hafizh himself said,
“I am grateful to be part of this campaign and I hope to see a lot of pledges from my fans and Malaysians in general. I may be a MotoGP rider and have traveled the world, but in the end, my heart is still in Malaysia. For me to be able to come back to my hometown in the Klang Valley (both Shah Alam and Kuala Lumpur) to celebrate Aidilfitri means so much to me after three years of not being able to do so. My pledge is for you to make this happen for me and we could all celebrate this auspicious day together”
The contest runs from 1 May to 30 June 2019. To triple your chances of winning, redeem your Touch ‘n Go eWallet at participating outlets nearby! Good luck!
