6 Stellar Shows You Can Expect at Malaysia’s First Digital Arts Festival, KLoud Fest 2021

In need of some good local entertainment? We gotchu! The inaugural 2-day digital arts festival – KLoud Fest is happening from 19 to 20 March, and it’s perfect for all theatre aficionados, music lovers and comedy fans.

Hosted by non-profit organisation DiverseCity and local theatrical company Liver & Lung, the festival aims to entertain and support local artists by creating a more vibrant arts sector in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

What this means is that you will have instant access to 6 different shows over one weekend! Whilst engaging with it, you can also connect and react with one another while staying safe in this pandemic.

Still unsure of what to expect? Let us break it down for you. Here are all the six stellar line-ups for KLoud Fest 2021:

1. South East Asia’s first TikTok Musical, ‘Nasi Lemak’

Fittingly titled, it pays homage to our national dish! The original musical debut features rising local TikTok stars and a whole host of original songs, viral dance moves and hilarious scenes that explore the magic behind the nation’s favourite dish.

It will be led by content creators, Amsyar Lee, Fara Dolhadi, Faiz Najib, Clinton Jerome Chuah, Melissa Ong, Ellya Keesha, Joshua Gui and Nabilah Hamid.

2. Dance Revolution: A Virtual Party

Here’s your chance to dance your heart out with five of Malaysia’s premium DJs! This wonderful show will take you deep into the art of a dancefloor.

Time to celebrating modern dance & club culture with DJs like JohnnyVicious, Alam, Roshan, House of RN, Nahsyk, and Xes Xes Loveseat.

3. Happy Hour: A Virtual Comedy Variety Show

Hosted by international award-winning musical comedian, Hannan Azlan (Comedy Central Asia) who’s no stranger to finding humour in almost everything with her unique style of comedy, there’ll be stand-up, sketches and even a song or two.

Happy Hour also features Mad Sabah (first runner-up on Astro’s Lawak Solo) who’s material about his home Sabah is as honest as it is hilarious, AIIA Improv (Malaysia’s biggest improv troupe), and Rambo – a character comedy by Kuah Jenhan (Best Comedy Show at Perth Fringe World 2016). We could all do with a laugh right now so get ready for a night chock-full of it!

4. Badrish & The Beatles: A Music Film

In this music film, a troubled boy LIVE streams a tribute concert that celebrates his favourite band, The Beatles. As the stream progresses, he unearths traumatic memories of his past in a tale of grief, loss and love, where past and future collide.

Starred by Badrish, he has worked with Dato’ Dr. Faridah Merican’s Life Sdn Bhd: Voices of the Young, and even co-wrote the stage adaptation of Yasmin Ahmad’s masterpiece film, Sepet the Musical. So, y’all know this is going to be amazing!

5. Eye On The Ball: A Sports Documentary

The true definition of  “against all odds”.’Eye on The Ball’ is a 2019 sports documentary film that follows Malaysia’s national blind football team, known as the Harimau Buta (Blind Tigers) and their remarkable journey in the 2017 ASEAN Para Games.

Detailing the lives of four individuals: players Asri, Kenchot and Rollen, along with their coach, Sunny Shalesh, the documentary covers the team’s hopes to defend their reigning title and also qualify for the World Blind Football Championship.

6. Trina in KL: Creative Masterclasses

If that’s not enough, KLoud Fest will also be delivering a series of enriching masterclasses, hosted by Malaysian actress Putrina Rafie, that help answer the questions we all want to know: How can I be funny? How do I dance like a pro? How can I take a bomb photo?

The masterclasses feature seasoned professionals sharing their craft, including actress Jo Kukathas, photographer Daniel Adams and makeup artist Hammada Bamadhaj.


Well, that’s the end of it and it sure sounds like a good time!

This interactive experience is supported by the festival’s partners including MY CreativeVentures and Penjana. The ticket price for an all-access pass over the weekend is RM75 whilst individual show tickets are available from RM15!
