According to NST, a man bled to death after he punched the glass door of a mosque at Taman Scientex, Pasir Gudang, severely cutting himself in the act.

The 28-year-old chemical engineer, who reportedly suffered from depression, had spiralled after finding the mosque door closed for prayers last Sunday (5 Sept) night. He was later found dead at his rented house after authorities received a distress call.

“He punched the glass door of the mosque until it broke, and caused his hands to be covered in blood. A check on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera found that the victim had punched the glass door twice until it broke,” said Seri Alam police chief Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak in a statement last night.

According to the man’s sister, he had become depressed as he had not been able to visit his family in Kuala Berang, Terengganu for the past six months.

Sohaimi also said that the victim’s sister lived in the Desa Cemerlang area, while the victim lived with two friends in Taman Scientex.

A post-mortem found that the cause of death was severe wounds to the right wrist and severed blood vessels and tendons. The case has been classified as sudden death.
