The hit single that made everyone feel like they are the shit, ‘Rockstar’ by Post Malone featuring 21 Savage, just released the visuals to accompany the song. The gory music video starts with a disclaimer of its adult content, so don’t be surprised that it features sword fighting, hazy visuals, Post Malone fighting off a group of people, and PLENTY of blood.

Before the MV dropped, Post tweeted a video teaser that got fans excited.

Both rappers were in the spotlight this week for speaking out on certain things. Post Malone received backlash after stating to Newonce that “if you’re looking to cry, if you’re looking to think about life, don’t listen to hip hop.” Some people were outraged that the rapper dismissed the genre like that:

In his defence, Post’s statement only puts the highlight on “mainstream hip hop,” where most of the lyrics are typically about money and women, and not about underground rappers who talk about real life struggles. But then again, Post must have forgotten about Logic’s touching suicide awareness song ‘1-800-273-8255’ – that got pretty mainstream.

As for 21 Savage, he decided to speak out against old school rappers hating on modern-day hip hop. He was responding to certain tweets that said modern rappers only make “drug-user” music. This is what he had to say:

Besides all these ‘dramas’, we’d like to think that the ‘Rockstar’ music video has a deeper meaning to it. It begins with Post and 21 in all-white suits that represent purity. Being famous rappers, some might have to deal with the rockstar lifestyle that can be too much. They fight their way to something – in this context probably fame and money – and ended up covered in blood. Probably showing how much they have to sacrifice in order to get to top. Post even has a shot where he’s sitting on a throne in a red suit too. Connect the dots, please. Well, at least that’s just our take on it.
