The saying “All press is good press” has rung especially true for Zoe Gabriel, the 17-year-old who took the Internet by storm earlier this year when she was criticised for referring to Charles & Keith as a luxury brand.

Over the weekend, it was reported that the teen graced the cover of the brand’s campaign for International Women’s Day.

She took to her Instagram to publish the stunning photo, with the caption, ““Women are like flowers: Our time and needs to grow may not always align, but that is okay. We are like fields of poppy and lakes of lotus – diverse and bold in our differences, beautiful in our own ways.”

For the campaign, Zoe is pictured with the limited-edition purple Alia bag ($75.90), one of the brand’s best-selling items. A marketing professional, a product manager, and an administrative assistant from the brand are among the other models in the advert.

Netizens have filled the comments section with encouraging messages, telling Zoe that her feature with the brand is well-deserved and other remarks along the lines of “Who’s laughing now?”

Charles & Keith has actually been in touch with Zoe since the TikTok clip in which she thanked her father for gifting her her first luxury bag from the brand.

Following the whole messy account whereby netizens poked fun at the teen, mostly saying that she must have been broke to consider the bag a luxury article, the brand extended an invitation to the oldest of four homeschooled siblings to visit the company’s office and have a meal with the founders.

For this particular campaign, 20% of the proceeds from the sale of the bag from Charles & Keith, which operates 600 stores globally, will go to the Storytelling For Gender Equality programme of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, popularly known as UN Women.

All the more reason to support the brand! And while we’re on the topic – Many people actually regard Charles & Keith as a luxury-lite brand. Kate Spade, Michael Kors, and Coach are among other brands under this category.
