Prime Minister Muyihiddin Yassin has announced today that those below 55 years old can withdraw up to RM500 from the EPF starting 1 April 2020, to help ease financial burdens during MOC.

The government will also allocate RM500mil to the Ministry of Health and RM300mil to state governments to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

PTPTN payments will also be suspended from 3 to 6 months, effective immediately. This will benefit almost 1.5 million lenders.

Aside from the initiatives announced, the government will provide additional plans to aid the people during this tough time.

When asked about extending MOC, the PM said there’s 90% adherence by the public. However, if the data suggests otherwise, the government might extend MOC by up to two weeks.

He said there will be a meeting with the National Security Council on 30 March to discuss whether to extend the period and to unveil the stimulus packages revealed today.

Although testing at government medical centres if you fulfil the criteria, private hospitals and home screening may cost up to RM700, which is the market price.
