Yana Najib, the daughter of jailed former Prime Minister Najib Razak, has expressed her sadness over her father’s “loneliness” in prison as he will observe the upcoming Hari Raya alone behind bars.

Najib was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in the misappropriation of RM42 million of SRC International funds. Yana has been openly supporting her father throughout the trial and is reportedly struggling to cope with the idea of him being alone during Ramadan as well.

Additionally, she has also expressed her concern about the fairness of the judicial system in Najib’s case, saying that believes that if her father was facing a fair system, she would feel more at peace. This sentiment is shared by many opposition members and civil society groups who claim that Najib’s conviction was politically motivated.
