22-Year-Old M’sian Woman Helps Boyfriend Rob Jewellery Store to Pay His Car Debt

Bonnie & Clyde, who? Just today (21 Dec), a woman was sentenced to a day in jail and ordered to pay an RM7,000 fine after she was caught stealing gold from a jewellery store.

The 22-year-old admitted to stealing an RM15,000 gold bangle in Port Dickson alongside her 20-year-old boyfriend on 7 Dec. She claimed that they committed the act to help pay off her boyfriend’s car instalments.

District police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed said the couple went to the store on the pretext of buying jewellery.

“While looking at a gold bangle, they both suddenly got up, ran out of the outlet and escaped in a car. The incident happened so quickly that the employees were not able to get the car registration number,” he said in a statement.

The woman was then caught and detained at an apartment in Selangor on 16 Dec after a follow-up operation by the authorities. She was subsequently remanded for four days and charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code.

Supt Aidi also mentioned that they managed to recover the stolen gold bangle which had been pawned at a store in Seremban.

He said to assist in ongoing investigations, police were now looking for one Muhammad Haikal Izhar whose last known address was in Taman Nusari Bayu, in Bandar Sri Sendayan.
