A 28-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly brandishing a knife during the final night of the Rain Rave Water Music Festival last Saturday in Bukit Bintang, after festival-goers and security personnel swiftly restrained her in the middle of the packed event.

Footage of the incident has since spread widely across social media, capturing the tense moments before the woman was pinned to the ground and taken into police custody.

Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was among an estimated crowd of 30,000 attendees when the incident unfolded.

He said she is being held for possession of a weapon and was set to undergo the remand process yesterday, 3 May.

One of the most widely circulated videos, shared by Instagram user @jxsttin, shows a man attempting to disarm and restrain the woman as chaos broke out around him:

In the post’s caption, the witness said they had been trying to locate a friend when the woman suddenly pulled out a knife and allegedly attempted to stab a man nearby.

The witness described feeling trapped by surrounding barricades and feared they could become the next target if she managed to break free.

“The only thing I could do was record what was happening,” they wrote, adding a reminder for others to stay vigilant at large-scale public events.

Several bystanders, alongside event security personnel, then rushed in to assist, wrestling the woman to the ground and holding her there until police arrived.

Fadil praised the quick response from both members of the public and security staff, noting that the situation was brought under control despite the sheer size of the crowd.

He added that around 500 officers, including reinforcements from Bukit Aman and district police headquarters across Kuala Lumpur, had been deployed to strategic locations throughout the festival.

Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing was also reportedly present at the event that evening.
