Who needs ZoukOut 2012 when Malaysians are finally receiving some Justice? Pun fully intended. You’ve probably heard word about Justice coming to Malaysia, well, JUICE is here to confirm to you guys that yes, this indie rock-influenced French electronica duo is heading to our shores for Heineken Thirst 2012! One of the most successful groups off Ed Banger Records, Xavier and Gaspard’s debut, the symbolically titled † (2007), propelled their fledgling career to fellow countrymen Daft Punk-like status in a matter of months. Certain aspects of their live show here might have to be omitted (you know what we’re referring to, wink, wink), but that won’t take anything from their incredible live sets at all. Loss of gimmick be damned! Besides, who needs that particular light fixture in the shape of a certain something when Heineken Thirst is going all out by bringing the infamous Electric Daisy Carnival LED sculpture, Wish, by Robert James Bucholz. The 17-metre-high installation is in the shape of what looks like a trio of incandescent mushrooms from planet Pandora. There’s a reason why “progressive” is the brand’s mantra, with this and their previous Thirst, Heineken has gone full on futuristic.

While Justice is our personal highlight of the fest, Heineken has also gotten the likes of EDM’s current it-boy (just don’t call him the next Guetta) Avicii, progressive electro veterans Above & Beyond, underground house-electro champion Brodinski, and Gesaffelstein, whose ‘80s darkwave synth-referential beats shouldn’t be overlooked. Rocking the second stage are local EDM heroes Goldfish & Blink, LapSap, Mr.Nasty & GuruGuru, Phil K Lee, HypeEmBeats + Jee Hoe, Tommy Cham, and Nick Haydez.
