According to Malay Mail, police are tracking down individuals behind the “whistleblower” Twitter account @edisi_siasatmy , saying that most of the allegations of scandals among the authorities have been sensationalized.
“I would like to state that much of the news by Edisi Siasat is berita diada-adakan (fabricated news) to create a sensation. All the things stated there, if it involved the police, we will forward it to the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department to authenticate the claims,” Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah San said today (8 Nov).
Acryl Sani also said that police have opened 13 investigation papers on the account and that they are still investigating to find who the individuals are behind the account.
Just last week, police said that it would investigate the complainants and the Twitter user under Section 500 of the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
ICYMI, the page created a buzz among netizens as it has been issuing posts, alleging corruption linked to high ranking enforcement agencies’ officials including from within the police force and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
It mainly pointed out an allegation that senior police officers were involved in cases of malpractice, power abuse and corruption. In addition, it claimed that the top management of MACC itself is involved in corruption and protecting certain crime syndicates.
