Music Conference ASIA @ The Auditorium, Sama-Sama Hotel
Conveniently located just adjacent to KLIA, the annual conference was opened to everyone with a ticket to the festival. As it was with the previous ones, the session was personal and not too academic – art can’t be academicised after all. Veteran local Reuben Samuel, Certified Ableton Trainer of Mile High Sounds, started the conference with Ableton Master Class, showcasing an effortless way to improvise your musical synapses with Ableton Live’s Session View. Fellow trainer Tom Cosm took over next, imparting his knowledge of the new Push controller to participants before a showcase of Ableton’s WMD, Max for Live. Those with a penchant for pedantic technicality had a collective orgasm at this point.

All of those played second fiddle to what people really went there for; Judge Jules’ Keynote Interview. More casual get-to-know sesh than nerd tech talk, Jules revealed who gave him the name ‘Judge’. It was the legendary creator of Good Times Sound System, Norman Jay, whom played a factor in Jules’ rise in prominence when they paired up together. To the surprise of everyone, BT attended the conference and gave participants an impromptu talk. Notorious for being a technical god, BT revealed numerous production methods while divulging about his long career in the dance world.
