Coronavirus bling-bling?

According to Sinar Harian, a man from India took his drip to the next level by spending RM171,500 for a metallic mask made of pure gold.

The businessman, Shankar Kurhade, said that the “protective gear” is covered with 60 grams of gold and took craftsmen eight days to make. Etched with special patterns, it is secured by white elastic bands and has a few minute holes which ensures that the user will have no difficulty when breathing.

However, when asked about its efficacy, he said, “I am not sure if it will be effective to protect me from a coronavirus infection but I am taking other precautions.”

When going out, the 49-year-old said he likes to adorn himself with gold jewellery weighing a kilogram, including a bracelet, necklace and rings on each finger of his right hand. It makes sense for him to want his mask to match his other luxurious accessories.

Kurhade, whose company makes industrial sheds – said he got the idea for the gold face mask after seeing a media report about a man wearing one made from silver. Now, whenever he walks the streets of India, people would ask him for selfies and many would be awestruck when they see his gold mask.
