Artist Salavat Fidai paints and makes sculptures but most of the time, he prefers a much more unconventional and incredibly small medium to assert his artistic endeavours. For instance, he has managed to sculpt with great detail on the lead of a pencil and paint a variety of historical paintings on persimmon seeds. Though the surface of these objects are minute, it is apparent that the artist does not sacrifice any details. However in his latest series of work, Fidai has chosen a canvas that’s slightly larger to paint the scaled down impressionist works of Van Gogh — on the blank surface area of a matchbox.
