Urban Diversion by Oakoak
We know you’d expect us to put a Banksy reference here, but forget him, he’s reduced to an irrelevant punchline by now. Though French artist Oakoak’s work isn’t terribly groundbreaking, at least he doesn’t take himself too seriously. As you can see, Oakoak tends to place pop cultural figures and characters in plain ol’ places that may not be as inspirational to the eye of those who are not artistically inclined. However, looking beyond the evident humour, his work plays with juxtaposition as well by bringing attention to the everyday drab of infrastructure with the inherent boldness of pop culture figures. It all just requires sharp observation and a healthy sense of the whimsical.
