Emerging from Kuching, Sarawak, underground hip-hop and R&B artist Guccimith officially entered the spotlight with his debut solo album, Umrah Untuk Ibu.
A deeply personal and heartfelt project, the six-track album is a tribute to his mother, encapsulating his personal growth, sacrifices, and unwavering love.
Guccimith takes the next step in his career by launching himself as a solo artist
Umrah Untuk Ibu marks a pivotal moment for Guccimith, as he moves away from his collaborative roots with Zhe Kamil to establish himself as a solo artist. However, the album still carries echoes of his past, with Zhe making a guest appearance in it.
Guccimith also took full creative control of this project, overseeing production, mixing, and mastering with his trusted collaborators SXPH and Luther Wong.
“This album is not just music—it’s my story, my struggles, and my love for my mother, all in one,” said Guccimith.
The album includes a variety of themes, with each song carrying a heartfelt message of its own
Umrah Untuk Ibu takes listeners on an emotional rollercoaster, touching on themes of fear, uncertainty, love, and longing.
In the first half, the album reflects on the struggles of distance and longing for family, with Guccimith expressing his fears and uncertainties of being far from his mother.
The section ends with ‘Jika Ini Takdir‘, the first focus single, where he comes to terms with fate and the fragility of life.
Meanwhile, the second half delves into exploring love, sacrifice, and separation, diving into the emotional cost of relationships.
The album closes with ‘Dia‘, the second focus single, where Guccimith acknowledges the imperfections in his bond with his mother, delivering a powerful and heartfelt finale.
With Umrah Untuk Ibu, Guccimith invites listeners into his world, offering raw honesty, emotional depth, and a sound that blends old-school vulnerability with modern artistry.
