Every so often, a watch comes along that feels like more than just a watch. It tells a story, captures a moment, and maybe even hints at where a brand is heading.

This past weekend, as the roar of Formula 1 engines filled the air at the Miami Grand Prix, Tudor dropped exactly that kind of timepiece—the Black Bay Chrono “Carbon 25”. And it’s something special.

This isn’t just a new version of an old watch. It’s a bold move from Tudor, tied to a growing chapter in its relationship with motorsport. Specifically, Formula 1 and the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (VCARB) team.

In a sport built on speed, precision, and drama, Tudor is revving its engines right alongside the grid.

Built for speed

At first glance, the Carbon 25 looks like something straight out of the pit lane. With a 42mm carbon fibre case (yes, actual carbon fibre—lightweight, tough, and very race car-adjacent), the watch is all sharp edges and stealthy presence.

It’s got a blacked-out look thanks to a titanium crown, pushers, and case back coated in PVD, with a pop of blue, white, and red on the dial—colours borrowed from VCARB’s racing livery.

There’s even a tachymeter bezel baked right into the case, which is a cool detail that motorsports fans will appreciate (that’s the scale you’d use to measure speed over a fixed distance).

Under the hood, it’s powered by Tudor’s MT5813 movement—an automatic chronograph made in collaboration with Breitling. It’s robust, accurate, and delivers 70 hours of power reserve, which basically means you can take it off on a Friday night and it’ll still be ticking when you grab brunch on Sunday.

Only 2,025 of these are being made—an intentional nod to the year and a reminder that this is a numbered limited edition. That alone is a big deal. Tudor doesn’t throw out limited editions casually. When they do, it’s usually tied to something meaningful.

So why does this watch matter beyond just being cool?

Because the Carbon 25 is Tudor planting its flag more deeply in the world of Formula 1. It’s not just a sponsor sticker slapped on a car or a marketing gimmick.

The materials, design, and even the partnership with VCARB reflect a shared ethos: engineering, performance, and yes, a little bit of flair.

If you’re not too familiar with Formula 1, VCARB is Red Bull Racing’s sister team—home to rising stars, strategic shakeups, and more than a few headline-grabbing driver swaps.

You might have heard about Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda taking the highly coveted Red Bull seat from Kiwi driver, Liam Lawson, demoting the latter to VCARB earlier this season.

All that racing drama adds another layer to this release. The Carbon 25 isn’t just a tribute—it’s a symbol of Tudor aligning itself with the high-stakes, high-tech culture of Formula 1. It’s basically the brand saying, “We belong here too.”

In this writer’s humble opinion, it works. The watch looks fantastic. It wears the racing inspiration without being over the top. It’s technical without being inaccessible. And it’s sporty without feeling like it only belongs at the track.

Whether you’re deep into watch collecting or just getting into the world of F1 and want something to mark the moment, this one’s worth a look.

If you’ve got RM31,590 laying around, act fast—2,025 pieces won’t last long. And like any great moment in racing, once it’s gone, it’s gone.
