What Went Down: Topman Big Gig @ The Bee, Publika

The launch of The Bee restaurant @ Publika this weekend was celebrated with the Topman Big Gig, an exclusive event that served up fashion, music, and the one thing that particular combination never fails to attract; gaggles of hipsters. Performing live on the night were local indie outfits They Will Kill Us All, Busco, and The Deer Society with a DJ set.
The pub-like interior of the restaurant located in the newly established Publika, Solaris Dutamas, was the perfect atmosphere (once teamed with the free flow beer, that is) in which to vibe out to our local talent; whom it’s worth mentioning were pleasingly attired in the latest and greatest threads from Topman.
They Will Kill Us All played first with their recently revived back to basic rock sound, followed by Busco who played a string of songs fresh from their recent EP launch. Lastly The Deer Society played an hour long set of slow jams to finish off the night. Despite the strangely apathetic crowd (c’mon, bands deserve a little more affection than a hipster head nod people) the acts all took to the stage with high energy, leaving many of us thinking they might be giving the international scene a shake up in the near future. While the Topman Big Gig was a somewhat low key affair, you can never really go wrong with decent live music and a good feed with friends on a long weekend.
