To Make Ends Meet, This Elderly Man Sells Sugarcane Water at the Side of the Street in Terengganu
We often see many roadside stall sellers on the streets, trying to make ends meet as urbanisation catches up with the age-old sight of Malaysian street food. It’s particularly hard to watch as many of us have fond memories of our favourite street stall snacks and family dinners at now-demolished hawkers stalls.
Recently, a Facebook group, Viral Malaysia, shared a picture of an elderly man, who is almost at the age of 79, selling sugarcane drinks at the side of the street.
Luluh hati tengok pakcik tersenyum puas tatkala lelaki ini borong semua air tebunya 😭
Ya allah, umur 79 masih kuat…

According to the post, the elderly man has been operating his Sugarcane drinks business at the side of the street for quite some time now in order to support himself. It stated that the elderly man used to sell his drink on a bicycle too.
The sight of the man who should be enjoying retirement in his golden years, working at the stall in the midst of the pandemic naturally made netizens feel sympathetic.
So if you’re ever in Kampung Raja Besut, Terengganu, make sure to buy his cool refreshments. His stall is located next to Rumbia Restaurant.
