There is nothing much that can scare us as adults in the world today. Science has demystified most of our grandfathers’ tales and the rest have been relegated to jokes told on school camping trips.

Still, we hunger for a good fright. Even as grown ups, we long for a creepy encounter with the other side simply because it’s good fun. What? The Conjuring didn’t make you feel like a teenager again? Getting a good scare is like eating fugu. It’s an aphrodisiac.

Launched in 2011, the region’s most elaborate Halloween event, Universal Studios Singapore Halloween Horror Nights 3, will return this year with even more thrills and frights set amid original storylines. If you think the TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle and Revenge of the Mummy™ rides were thrilling, be prepared to jump out of your skin for this one!

At the centre of attention (they’re kinda hard to miss) are this year’s icons, the 3 Sisters of Evil. Say hello to the Maiden of the Opera, the prettiest and most prideful of all; the Crone of the Forest, the wisest and most evil sister; and the Daughter of the Undead, who is the youngest and most impulsive sister, taking the form of a vampire.

Fear will reign as thrill seekers navigate a journey through three intricate haunted houses and three immersive scare zones. The spine-chilling line-up of houses and scare zones includes a ghostly voyage aboard Adrift in New York zone; and in the Lost World zone, a bloodbath massacre trail at the Chinese Opera Academy amidst Songs of Death, as well as the cursed house of Possessions, where spirits of the owner’s collections take over the dilapidated home.

On the lighter side, a Halloween edition of Monster Rock Show special will also make an appearance at the

theme park this October, with new song and dance presentations specially choreographed for Halloween. There will also be games available on the microsite www.halloweenhorrornights.com.sg.

Due to the event’s popularity, single general admission, Frequent Fear, and R.I.P Tour tickets are expected to sell out and should be purchased in advance. So don’t wait until it’s too late, or you might have to pay… with your life.
