In a video she posted onto her Tiktok account, Stefanie demonstrated how the mask slowly reveals a page from the Marauders Map as she tried breathing through it. The mask achieves that effect through a chemical treatment done in its manufacturing stages.

Stefanie works at company called Colorado Pony Express (CPEX), where she sells hand-sewn plush toys and accessories. She explained to Insider that she wanted to “bring some magic into the real world” by making these face masks.

The Marauders Map is a magical document that mapped out the entirety of Hogwarts (Harry’s fictional witchcraft and wizardry school in the Harry Potter universe).

It can detect the exact location of anybody around the school at any particular time and was once in the possession of Harry’s father James Potter who used it with his friends Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black who used to call themselves… the Marauders.

Whoever holds the map must utter the phrase “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” in order to activate it and “Mischief managed” to lock it up and make it seem less magical and more like a normal piece of paper so people don’t snitch on you or try to steal the map for themselves.

Stefanie explained that one mask would generally take her around 17 hours to complete . She also noted that while the masks were not medical grade, it gave her an opportunity to make another interactive item which is something she really loves doing.

The Marauders Map face mask isn’t the only one Stefanie’s made, she even has her own online store which primarily sells face masks for now. For those of of you with TikTok accounts, don’t forget to follow Stefanie for more cool mask designs and other artsy goodness!
