Despite being only the first wave of announcements, they are already pulling some of their big guns — the perennial occupier of EDM’s pop pedestal David Guetta, Dutch duo W&W, and the Australian Nervo twins are set to headline Thirst 2013. We know you guys have a habit of getting your passes nearer to event date but hey, early bird tickets — selling at just RM118 — will be available at Rock Corner, The Curve from 11 to 13 October. Pretty much a sign for you guys to come together and start lining up this Friday and shout “take all our monies!” at the counter.

David Guetta
Does a guy who came up with the phrase “F*ck me, I’m famous” need any introduction? You saw him spun at the same venue just last year, and JUICE is pretty sure that night was pretty epic without having to recap it. Whatever his detractors have to say about him (the same people who were ignorant enough to buy into an obvious satirical news), this French DJ has earned his cred worldwide by touring nonstop and following a simple mantra; “I always just think of making people dance—that’s my first priority.”

W&W
Having played in Malaysia just early this year, this Dutch duo isn’t a stranger to locals here either. While primarily associated with trance, Ward van der Harst and Willem van Hanegem are experts at creating a cacophony of dance music that exploits the transcendental melody of trance, the intensity of electro, and the forward-thinking nature of house into a sound that is unequivocally their own. The likes of Tiësto and Armin van Buuren have cosigned their productions, and thousands of Malaysians have raved to their mix last March. W&W doesn’t need anymore validation.

Nervo
Don’t mistake these twins’ multihyphenate career trajectory for weakness, Miriam Nervo and Olivia Nervo might have started as models but their music career isn’t a fluke in any way. These girls, after all, cowrote the Grammy Award-winning single ‘When Love Takes Over’ by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. Beyond that, when not busy writing smash hit singles for Ke$ha and Kylie Minogue, the two are finishing up their album in the studio and spinning at clubs and festivals. Their last single ‘You’re Gonna Love Again’ shows exactly why Nervo makes for amazing pop writers with an EDM slant. And you know what? It doesn’t matter if it didn’t top charts, to quote them, “Art before chart!”

Organised by Future Sound Asia, Thirst 2013 is slated to be held on Saturday 14 December at Sepang International Circuit. For more information, log on to thirst.com.my
