The Women’s Circle Was Where Power Found Its People

Last Friday night, I found myself tucked inside Noko Noko, a woman-owned haven in Damansara Heights, surrounded by some of Malaysia’s sharpest and most inspiring women.

The air buzzed with conversation and handcrafted cocktails, a mix of laughter and quiet deal-making. This was The Women’s Circle, the latest creation by Just After Work in collaboration with Uno Advisers, and it felt less like a networking event and more like an intelligent rebellion against the lifeless corporate mixer.

At its core, The Women’s Circle was about power. Not the loud, boardroom kind, but the grounded, confident kind that comes from women who know their worth. The night revolved around the theme ‘Health. Wealth. Connection’, and it truly delivered. Each conversation felt intentional, whether it was about self-care rituals, financial independence, or carving out meaningful careers in what is still a very male-led landscape.

JAW co-founder and director Jude Ashvin set the tone early on, sharing that the event was designed to move away from empty professional exchanges and toward genuine, purposeful interaction.

“The most valuable relationships are formed in spaces that encourage authenticity,” he said, as glasses of sparkling rosé were raised in agreement.

The collaboration with Uno Advisers made perfect sense. The firm has been on a mission to help modern professionals build financial confidence, and this event captured that perfectly.

“More women are taking charge of their finances today, especially those in leadership roles,” said Ian Wong, founder and CEO of Uno Advisers. “Our role is to guide them based on their goals, not generic formulas.”

The evening unfolded with a live podcast moderated by Mala K., Director of Future of Work at Mereka, whose effortless hosting style made the discussion feel like a smart, unfiltered conversation among friends.

Speakers included Sara Nattaya Azmi, founder of Lifetelco and Stallion Network, who spoke about turning vision into structure, Aprel Lim, founder of Furless Waxing, who reminded everyone that confidence begins with comfort, and Ian Wong, who broke down financial empowerment in human terms rather than intimidating jargon.

Between the conversations, guests mingled over fine canapés and crafted cocktails, connecting in the way women do best, honestly and without pretense.

Awards were given out for The Connector and The Visionary, celebrating guests who stood out for their warmth and storytelling prowess.

By the end of the night, The Women’s Circle had achieved something rare. It created a room where ambition met vulnerability, where financial talk wasn’t dry, and where networking actually felt human.

If this debut is anything to go by, Just After Work and Uno Advisers have just set a new bar for what professional gatherings in Malaysia can look like: elegant, intentional, and deeply empowering.
