The Ustaz Who Allegedly Abused 19 Children in Kuantan Has Gone Missing

In case you missed it, a viral video of an ustaz being confronted by an angry parent was shared all over social media last week. In a recent report by Harian Metro, it was revealed that the religious school teacher in Jaya Gading, Kuantan had allegedly abused 19 students whom are aged 8 to 15 years old.

In the 2-minute clip of the viral video, a father is seen confronting the ustaz after his 9-year old son claimed that he was caned, slapped, forced to perform squats, reprimanded openly and kissed on the lips by the ustaz.

Soon, parents of other students under the ustaz made a police reports and encouraged other parents in the school to come forward if their children had been victims too.

Right after the report was made, the ustaz went missing according to State Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Othman Nanyan.

Othman said the 46-year old suspect has two previous records under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 in Gedek, Melaka in 2013 and Bachok, Kelantan in 2016. He also assured that the police are on the look-out for him.

As for the 19 students of the religious school, they have returned to their families. According to NST, State Welfare Department director Zulkhairi Zainol Abidin said the boys would be sent to other religious schools under the Pahang Islamic Religious Department.

“We discussed with the families, who were assured of the boys’ safety and that suitable religious schools would be found for them.

“The department will also provide counselling to help the victims overcome their fear and lead normal lives,” he said.
