Local

Kyoto Protocol
By now a local concert favourite, Kyoto Protocol is an unstoppable freight train too stubborn for a crash course. Their debut was one of our local favourites last year! www.kyotoprotocolband.com

Goldfish + Blink
Perhaps Klang Valley’s blasé choice for favourite DJ duo, but it’s for a good reason. These guys are prominent in the dance scene for a reason. www.facebook.com/goldfishandblink

Twilight Actiongirl
Hipster gods who needn’t any introduction. TAGging at Zouk should be a cultural phenomenon now. www.facebook.com/groups/twilightactiongirl

They Will Kill Us All
Music is They Will Kill Us All’s raison d’être. Formed from the ashes of various legendary but now defunct musical groups in Kuala Lumpur, four seasoned musicians -Amir Shazlan, Edwin Raj, Ihsan Ariffin and David Leong – banded together in a singular vision of producing an energetic, forward looking sound that is unlike any other in Malaysia. They, whoever they are, will never kill them all. www.theywillkillusall.com

Mini Compo
LapSap’s and Twilight Actiongirl’s DJ Xu couldn’t be more different than the much less recognised Jit Woei of Nightlife Camera and The Beads fame. For one the respective genres they represent on their own are so disparate that when compared they are not just apples and oranges, they’re algae and cardboard boxes. Together they make music that is evidently reverent to retro synth-heavy pop but draws heavily on Xu’s own electro styling. soundcloud.com/ninjitxu

Enterprise
New to the scene, Enterprise makes make music that is informed by the very TAG phenomenon – indie rock-sensible dance music. Their sound can be described as indie dance, dance punk or perhaps even indie electro, take your pick. soundcloud.com/enterenterprise

Oh! Chentaku
Formed in 2007, Oh! Chenky consists 3 friends, Myo, Amber and Naem. The band plays a mixture of rock tunes with punk, pop, electro, post-hardcore and experimental elements thrown in as the band prefers to be as versatile as possible. Myo has also dabbled in dubstep with RAAFIK. ohchentaku.tumblr.com

Bud Culture
The progenitors of drum and bass and dubstep culture in Kuala Lumpur, Bud Culture has been holding the scene down for all the boys and men who are too cool for regular club night BS. budculturemsia.wordpress.com

Terence C
Terence C has played alongside with many internationally acclaimed DJs performing in Southeast Asia, including Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Chicane, Omid 16b, Matthew Dekay, John Digweed and Anthony Pappa, to name just a paltry few. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if we said he were one of the more experienced statesman of EDM here. www.facebook.com/pages/Terence-C/30644042327

Victor G
Victor has been spinning since he was just 15, he is now with a decade of experience in the club scene. Victor G has been exposed to various music directions and has contributed a lot to the local dance scene. Having to host and perform numerous events such as Hed Kandi, Global Underground, Renaissance and many more. www.soundcloud.com/victor-goh

DJ Fono
JUICE Best Local Club DJ of 05 and 06 DJ Fono is considered Kuala Lumpur’s most sought after trance and house DJ around. We did award him twice after all. Unconvinced readers need only wait this 17 March. www.facebook.com/pages/DJ-FONO/162411057175792

Bass Agents
The Bass Agents, consisting of Didjital and Ganjaguru, was formed in 2000 from the humble bedroom beginnings and the underground dance circuit in Melbourne. They finally returned to their homelands Kuala Lumpur in 2004 and began pushing the boundaries for hard dance at local events and club residencies from Barcode to Zouk. Combining liberal lashings of electro, hard trance and hardstyle, the Bass Agents have played a major role in bringing the appeal of hard dance into the consciousness of dance savvy youth across Malaysia. www.bassagents.com

Phil K Lee + Ian Ross
Phil K Lee won 2010’s iteration of Found @ Thirst and has been hard at work gigging ever since. Ian is a technically gifted deickmeister who has held residencies in all of KL top clubs, from Maison to Ministry of Sound. Together these two make for a dangerous DJ duo. soundcloud.com/phil-lee www.myspace.com/ianalexross

We know we got y’all salivating over the lineup, but we’ve been told there might be a few surprises still to come down the pipeline.
