The Doctor by Maria Svarbora
There is something exceedingly odd, ethereal, and transient in Slovakian photographer Maria Svarbora’s The Doctor series. With a background in the studies of conservation, restoration, and archaeology, it’s hard not to miss the timeless and archaic feeling that is drawn out of Maria’s work. Seen within this series, the emotionless figures of the patients, nurses, and doctors make for an awkward imagery with a sense of creepiness inherent to certain types of vintage photos, here facsimiled to perfection.
