The Best Dressed & Straight Up Weird @ MTV EMA ’17

The annual MTV Europe Music Award (EMA) that recently happened in London is better than ever this year. Well, mainly because Taylor Swift was nominated for six categories – and she won none. Maybe a little birdie told her this was gonna happen, no wonder she was a no-show at the awards.

With Rita Ora hosting the show, the big winner of the night was the ever-so-charming Shawn Mendez. He snatched three trophies to add to his collection. There were performances by Demi Locato, U2, Camilla Cabello, and even Travis Scott. The last of which stole the show as he performed atop a massive, moving robotic falcon.

But besides all the amazing performances, the red carpet was what we really kept an eye on. There were tonnes of artistes who rocked the carpet with their attire, and to be quite frank, only a few hit the carpet looking like a mess, as some just showed up with questionable and/or super weird outfits. Maybe I’m just trying to be polite and maybe you should judge it for yourself. Regardless, scroll down to see the best and worst(?) dressed at the MTV EMA ’17.

The Best Dressed

1. Madison Beer

Her high ponytail and baddie makeup really balance out her dress, which compliments the sweet-but-badass element to it.

2. Anne-Marie

Another all-black outfit, Anne-Marie plays with simplicity by pairing the dress with some hoop earrings. She even kept the makeup simple while her hair is sleeked back to perfection.

3. Zara Larsson

Zara is serving us colours as she steps out with this all-pink attire. The pink Converse and cuffed earring add a sense of playfulness to the whole thing.

4. Camilla Cabello

I love that everyone is rocking pink. The pop princess is showing some skin with this sheer floral dress and everyone is here for it.

5. The MTV It Girls

These ladies are serving us individuality. Maybe it’s a glimpse of how their individual personalities are too.

 

Alright, time to face the weirdness of awards shows and red carpets. Get ready to cringe.

The Weirdly Dressed / Worst Dressed

1. Swae Lee

Let’s start slow with this list. We get it Swae, you wanna flex. But you’re not helping yourself by bringing every accessory you have in your closet.

2. Petite Meller

I guess this outfit fits her musical aesthetics but um, it’s a bit overwhelming when you don’t know who she is. You do you, babe.

Let’s be honest, her makeup and jewellery are fabulous. And this whole gimmick of just popping out the shower is giving me life. File this under ‘Weird’, but not ‘Worst’.

5. Noa Kirel

Those big-ass shoulder balls are really distracting. And the skirt and the sleeves too — this whole attire is a mess. Perhaps she wants to pop out, but please don’t take it literally.
