LISTEN: Sugar Shrill Dials Up the Kawaii-ness on ‘Suika’
After a yearlong hiatus, Sugar Shrill first teased their return with a remix of Galantis – and now officially with original mix ‘Suika’. Doubling down on their Porter Robinson-influenced Japanese pop culture-appropriating brand of dance music, the track is akin to a saccharine musical trip down a Makoto Shinkai anime. Notions of a broken romance are in its sampling of dialogues from Akame Ga Kill, which contrast with its buoyant uptempo beat that seems to suggest the highs of romance instead.
