Studio Ghibli Released a Set of Wallpapers to Use as Backgrounds for Video Calls
Since most people are working from home due to the pandemic, many connectivity apps have popped up. To differentiate themselves, many of these apps feature aesthetically-pleasing Middle Earth-ish backgrounds for users to choose from. Sure, it’s a work meeting, but that doesn’t mean you can’t spice things up by adding attractive backgrounds or a farm animal or two.
Now, Studio Ghibli is joining the fun by releasing a series of wallpapers which are free to download. The wallpapers are meant to be used as backgrounds for video conferences and chats, and are also a nice way to pretend you’re in a Ghibli film.
The wallpapers can be resized or trim according to the sizing requirements for whatever app you’re using. However, you can’t use it to advertise companies or products.
The first collection released on 13 April, includes backgrounds from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, Howl’s Moving Castle, Ponyo and The Secret World of Arrietty.
They’ve recently added four more wallpaper collections from Kiki Delivery Service, My Neighbour Totoro, From Up on Poppy Hill and Whisper of the Heart. Studio Ghibli says they’ll be adding more free wallpapers soon.
For now, you’ve got plenty to choose from, so make your next video call special and get spirited away with a Ghibli background!
