Struggling to Choose a Course to Study? These 2 Fields Could Be The One For You!

If you’re getting ready to leave school, it’s likely that everywhere you go you’ll be asked ‘what are you going to study next?’ There are a huge number of universities in Malaysia and an even bigger number of courses that you can choose from and we all know how overwhelming that can be. So, we’re here to take your stress level down a notch!

If you’re still looking into possible courses, tossing up between two fields or have no idea what kind of career you want, you might want to consider these two options: Early Childhood Education or Public Relations and Event Management. Although these two courses aren’t the most well-known, they’re definitely in high demand in Malaysia.

Let’s have a closer look at both courses…

1. Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Honours)

Do you love children and want to help them grow? Well, early childhood educators play an important role in a child’s development. They inspire young minds, expose them to the joys of learning, and give them the foundation for lifelong success.

Young children need to expand their social relationships and be in various environments where they can feel safe, be happy, and have fun discovering and exploring new activities. With that, a need for early childhood education professionals to play a supporting role in the development and growth of young children is very high! And pursuing a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Honours) opens doors to exactly that.

Young children have much to experience, experiment, and learn in their early years. In fact, the majority of a child’s brain development occurs during the first three years of life. By being an early childhood educator, you get to help young minds reach their mental milestones at different ages.

Whether in a traditional classroom or at an educational facility, you could be that person who will touch the lives of young children across the country in ways that could positively affect them forever.

2. Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Public Relations and Event Management

Whether it’s a small, independent business or a multinational corporation, every company needs a reliable public relations department.

If you’re a people person, and find communication and social interactions to be productive and fulfilling, then this course is for you. Whether you’re a social butterfly who could potentially organise a banging event or a casual introvert who stays cool and calm during a crisis and knows exactly what to say on social media, this course is worth considering!

According to the Public Relations Society of America, “public relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organisations and their publics”, in other words, managing how others view your client/company. Whereas event management involves creating and developing large-scale events that might include conferences, conventions, concerts, festivals… the list goes on…

So are you ready to be the unseen hand that sways public opinion and/or the architect of grand events that will eventually shape modern society’s culture? Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Public Relations and Event Management opens doors to career prospects in these fields and more, such as PR consultants, corporate communications managers, media specialists, and campaign directors.
