SpaceGhostPurrp: Mysterious Phonk: The Chronicles of SpaceGhostPurrp

THE BLACK GOD
SpaceGhostPurrp’s mixtapes were lo-fi unmixed hip hop that could have been its own subgenre had he not released Mysterious Phonk mastered as it is now. That’s not a slight though, it proves that SGP’s sound is more than just a gimmick – it sounds good with or without proper mixing.

Some might be disappointed how clean the best track off first mixtape, ‘Been Fweago’, is on the debut, yet we dig it just as much even without the lo-fi weird samples (anything from ICQ to Mortal Kombat). Rest of the album recalls early ‘90s Triple 6 Mafia the most, and like them he’s influenced by metal too. Lead single ‘The Black God’ is a self-fulfilling prophecy, SGP is no longer just a black man.
