Sabah Launches Manhunt After Sex Offender & Murderer Escapes Psychiatric Hospital in Kota Kinabalu
According to NST, police are tracking down two male patients that escaped Hospital Mesra Bukit Padang in Kota Kinabalu on Friday.
The district police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said the duo – Nurfazzrynn Fazir and Zulhijam Ali, went missing after they were taken out of their respective rooms at about 3pm for afternoon tea. They were alerted of the incident on Friday evening by the Mesra Bukit Padang Hospital staff members.
“It is believed they had escaped by climbing the fence next to the dining place and running towards Jalan Bantayan,” he said.
The two were sent to the psychiatric hospital last year following a court order in two separate cases.
Habibi stated that Nurfazzrynn is an offender under Section 14(A) Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017 from the Kota Kinabalu prison and was admitted to the ward on May last year for mild intellectual disability.
As for Zulhijam, he faced a murder charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code and was sent to the hospital on January last year for schizophrenia.
