Member of Popular M’sian Rap Group Arrested in Laos For Allegedly Smuggling Cannabis

A Malaysian rapper’s alleged daring attempt to smuggle cannabis into Germany ended in failure after Laotian authorities arrested him and two associates at Wattay International Airport.

The rapper, who is also a member of a well-known local rap group, has reportedly been in custody since 27 May following suspicions that he was trying to traffic drugs out of the country, reported Utusan Malaysia.

According to a report in Laos, the trio were apprehended during a routine inspection involving customs officers, airport enforcement personnel, and other relevant agencies.

Authorities discovered 103 packages of cannabis hidden in six pieces of luggage belonging to the suspects

The total weight of the drugs was estimated at around 86 kilograms.

It is believed that the suspects were preparing to board a Thai Airways flight bound for Germany, where the narcotics were allegedly intended to be delivered.

Laotian authorities have confirmed that all three individuals are currently detained and will face legal action in accordance with local laws. Investigations into the case are ongoing.

The seizure comes amid a string of recent drug trafficking incidents at Wattay International Airport, raising concerns over the increasing use of the transit hub for illicit activities.
