2 Cops Nabbed Over Rape & Extortion Of College Students
Selangor Police has detained two patrol officers believed to be involved in the robbery and rape of private college students in Ampang.
The students, comprising a foreign woman, reportedly an Uzbekistan national, and a local man, were targeted by the suspects clad in full police uniforms in Bukit Ampang on the evening of 9 January, around 10.09 p.m.
Upon receiving the victims’ reports, the Selangor Police Contingent promptly launched an investigation, resulting in the successful apprehension of the suspects the next evening by officers from the Ampang District Police Criminal Investigation Division.
The apprehended officers, holding the ranks of Constable and Lance Corporal, currently face a seven-day remand.
The incident transpired as the victims were forcibly transported to different locations. According to Bernama, the foreign woman endured sexual assault, while the local man was coerced into a bank under the guise of resolving a ‘traffic violation,’ resulting in the illicit withdrawal of funds.
Appealing to the public for support, Selangor Police Chief CP Dato’ Hussein bin Omar Khan encourages anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigations.
As reported by Bernama, the charges have been formally filed under Section 376, addressing the grave offence of rape, and Section 395/397, pertaining to the robbery.
Both are stipulated under the Malaysian Penal Code. The penalties for these offences are severe, encompassing imprisonment, fines, and even whipping.
In emphasising the commitment to transparency and justice, the Selangor Police Chief reassures the public that the police force will not compromise on any criminal case, confirming that swift action will be taken to ensure the safety of the community.
He maintains that the cooperation of citizens is paramount, and adds that any information can be reported to the nearest police station or contact the Ampang Jaya police headquarters at 03-4289 7222 to aid in the ongoing investigation.
