Happiness Is a Literal Virus in New Apple TV Show ‘Pluribus’

Imagine a world in which everyone is happy, regardless of the calamities they face. Now stop for a second and try to imagine that same world, but you’re the only one in it who’s unhappy. Kinda sucks, doesn’t it?

Well, in Apple TV’s new series Pluribus, that’s exactly the case, and it’s premiering globally on 7 November 2025.

Happiness is a virus, and it’s coming after you whether you like it or not

Apple TV has just released a sneak peek clip from the series premiere of Pluribus, a highly anticipated sci-fi drama from writer and director Vince Gilligan, who also happens to be the creator of Breaking Bad and co-creator of Better Call Saul.

The story is set in a fictional reality in which the apocalypse has just taken over Earth. But literally no one seems to mind, since they’ve all been infected with a virus that makes everyone blindly happy.

But it didn’t manage to get to protagonist, Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), a romantic fantasy author who just so happens to be the most miserable person in the world. Still, everyone else seems hellbent on making her “happy”. That prompts her to embark on a mission to save everyone from happiness.

The teaser doesn’t really give us much else when it comes to the storyline, but we can surely expect some excellent viewing, considering Gilligan’s past work.
