URBAN PICNIC
Positioned in a prewar shop house in historical Georgetown, Penang’s PIK NIK is the go-to restaurant-cum-hangout spot for the island state’s hipsters and artistically-inclined Penangites. It’s the kind of place you would go for board games while sipping on a nice cold one or watch a film screening of a cult flick as you munch on their waffle burger. There’s no need to look your hipster best here though, rock some flip flops and put on your best hippie getup and choose your sin; beer, food, yoghurt, or a combination thereon. All while Pitchfork-approved music is played. Price range is from RM10 to RM30.

CLIENTELE Local young Penangites; hipsters and artsy fartsy types, and tourists.

DRINKS Freshly brewed coffee, beer (Tiger, Asahi, Hoegarden, Stout, Killkenny, and Heineken), fruity yoghurt smoothies (strawberry, mango, strawberry, or mixed), and fruit juice.

ACTIVITIES Board games, Cult film screenings, lomography gatherings.

EATS PIKNIK’s special waffle burgers, cheese baked pastas, pumpkin creamy spaghettis, cakes and desserts, salmon rolls, chicken rolls, and salads.

MUSIC POLICY TAG-friendly tunes. Think Kings of Convenience, Karen Souza, xx, Beach House, and the likes.

DRESS CODE Casual, or anything really.

PARKING Metered parking lots.
