This Heartfelt New Year Film By PETRONAS Brings You Back To Your Carefree Childhood Days

The concept behind ‘Roots of Our Future’ was to highlight the beauty of our diverse heritage and safeguard our cultural roots — the little things that make us distinctly Malaysian.

From Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, to Hari Gawai and Pesta Kaamatan, PETRONAS treated us to an array of heartwarming, inspiring films. The latest Rai film for Hari Kebangsaan and National Day, as well as Sikat Nasihat in conjunction with Deepavali, also depicted the rich cultural heritage and values we share.

Wrapping up the year, PETRONAS presents A Gift of Heart (also known as Bingkisan Hati), a short film reflecting on gratitude and new beginnings.

In case you didn’t know, Quek Shio was also the mastermind behind shows and films like The Ghost Bride, Guang, and Sunflowers.

His latest short film, A Gift of Heart, follows four spirited schoolchildren — Hannah, Alice, Jeff, and Syazwan — and their relationship with the school caretaker, Aunty Cecilia, who diligently cleans the school compound and cares for a garden of flowers planted around the school.

The film portrays the camaraderie of these four friends as they learn and play at school without a care, sprinkling laughter and leaving a messy trail along the way.

However, one day, an unexpected incident causes tension between the children and Aunty Cecilia. In the spirit of the new year, watch to see how they band together, make amends, and plant the seed of new beginnings.
