Launched worldwide for first time in 2020 as a digital contest, Vans Musicians Wanted is the brand’s global music programme, providing a stage for up and coming musicians. The contest series celebrates fresh, new and “Off The Wall” talent from all genres.

With all music genres welcomed to the competition, Vans captured over 30,000 entries this year from all around the world, and today, they announced Asia-Pacific’s Top 5 finalists who will be competing head-to-head on 22 September.

The APAC’s Top 5 are Nathanie Ngu from Malaysia, Q The Trumpet from Korea, Squid the Kid from Australia, Kinder Bloomen from Indonesia and Yishun Panik from Singapore.

The final winner on 22nd Sept will share the stage with tongue-in-chic, genre-bending British rocker, YUNGBLUD.

Earlier this year, Nathanie Ngu blew up on TikTok after sharing a snippet of a song she wrote about how she forgot to wear sunscreen. Nathanie’s video immediately took off on social media, with many asking her to release the full version.

In an interview with SAYS, the Kuchingite credits her love for singing to a teacher who encouraged her to join a competition when she was in primary school.

“I remember loving the feeling of performing, so I started signing up for more shows and taking vocal classes to get better,” she shares.

Although she performed at events and weddings when she was younger, Nathanie says she only started seriously doing music when she was in college in 2019.

“I make music because I know no other form of expression where I can be this honest to both myself and others. And I think to be an authentic version of yourself takes courage and gives others the space to do the same.”

Tune in to vans.com/mw on 22 September and support her as she climbs her way to the top of the charts. We’re rooting for you, Nathanie!
