How many schools in Malaysia can say that they have a functioning fish pond system in the shape of a longkang?

As Malaysians have a fondness for Japanese Koi fish ponds, these local students decided to copy that idea and realise it at their own school.

Seen in a viral Tik Tok that has since garnered over 200,000 likes, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Palong 7 in Negeri Sembilan took up the challenge of transforming a regular drain into something wonderful.

The idea was given to the students by their principal and they definitely exceeded the expectations.

The new pond is not just nice to look at but it is also quite functional and well-thought out.

When it rains, the water and fish will not overflow because the students even came up with a filtration system made of pipes to ensure the fishies’ safety.
