Margot Robbie is expanding her producer journey by stepping into the world of board game adaptations with the announcement of the first live-action Monopoly film.

According to The Guardian, after her success with the movie Barbie in 2023, Robbie is set to produce the Monopoly film alongside her production company, LuckyChap, and Lionsgate, in collaboration with Hasbro.

Previously, LuckyChap was also rumoured to be working on a film adaptation of the popular simulation game, The Sims.

While the project is confirmed, it is unclear how the plot of the board game film will unfold

Will players receive USD200 once they pass the ‘GO’ sign? Will they go to jail and have to wait a few rounds before they can roll the dice again? Well, we can’t confirm that just yet.

However, the project has been met with enthusiasm from Adam Fogelson, chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, who praised LuckyChap’s exceptional production team and their ability to choose projects thoughtfully.

“I could not imagine a better production team for this beloved and iconic brand than LuckyChap.

“They are exceptional producers who choose their projects with great thought and care and join Monopoly with a clear point of view on what we all believe can be their next blockbuster,” said Fogelson in a statement.

“Monopoly is a top property—pun fully intended.

“Like all of the best IP, this game has resonated worldwide for generations, and we are so excited to bring this game to life alongside the wonderful teams involved at Lionsgate and Hasbro,” said LuckyChap.
