Monitor Lizard Claypot Curry can be found in the Klang Valley, but would you eat it?
We all love our curries – be it, fish, meat or chicken, it’s all delicious. The warmth and thickness of the broth mixed with spicy herbs and, of course, curry leaves accompanied by rice or bread makes the dish perfect for dinner or lunch, especially if you’re running on an empty stomach. You can’t go wrong, even if you add a Monitor Lizard in… which is what some folks do.
We’re not kidding, it’s real and it is served right here in the Klang Valley. Satti Sorru – a chain of food stalls in Pudu, Petaling Jaya and Klang offer their Indian Curry Claypot with a wide selection of meat choices which includes wild boar and monitor lizard.
Some said that monitor lizard meat is tender and full of flavour. So if you’re an adventurous foodie, you should check out one of their outlets. But if you’re not a reptile kinda person, you can keep it safe with other choices like prawn, quail, pork, and chicken claypot.
Satti Sorru claypot prices range from RM8 to RM15, so you won’t be breaking your bank while enjoying your tail, err, meal.
While monitor lizard populations around Malaysia aren’t exactly in danger of extinction (you can find them in some urban neighbourhoods in KL as well), we’d advise those with sensitive stomachs to see a medical professional’s advice before consuming any biawak...
If you’re still game for some curry biawak, head over to one of Satti Sorru’s outlets today:
Kuala Lumpur branch: Jalan Loke Yew & Persiaran Jubilee, Pudu, 55200 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan
Petaling Jaya branch: KickOff Cafe: VSQ @ PJ City Centre, PJS 52, 46200 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Satti Sorru is also in Kuantan and Klang.
