Moneybag 1327 Go For The Throat With ‘Hate & Vanity’

Kuala Lumpur hardcore outfit Moneybag 1327 return with Hate & Vanity, a three-track promo released via Greedydust (Indonesia) and Getmoneyrecs (Malaysia).

The release arrives with a sense of finality, as the band have stated that this will most likely be their last body of work. Rather than sounding like a quiet fade-out, the promo feels confrontational, urgent, and fully committed to saying exactly what needs to be said.

Hate & Vanity also marks a significant shift in the band’s structure, being the first release recorded as a four-piece after transitioning from their original five-piece lineup. The change brings a tighter, more direct sound, stripping away excess while amplifying impact. Lyrically, the band dig deeper into personal and emotional territory than ever before, most notably on ‘Suicide Season’.

The track draws from the vocalist’s long-term struggle with depression, offering a brutally honest reflection that avoids romanticising pain and instead presents it as something heavy, ongoing, and inescapable.

The promo consists of three tracks, one of which features Dalton from Three Knee Deep.

The collaboration is both a nod to shared roots and a show of solidarity within the regional hardcore community. Moneybag 1327 have expressed pride in working with Dalton and hope the feature helps draw more attention to hardcore bands across Southeast Asia, a scene that continues to grow louder, heavier, and more interconnected.

Across its short runtime, Hate & Vanity captures the essence of Moneybag 1327 at their most uncompromising. ‘Gravebound’ and ‘Suicide Season’ are built around crushing breakdowns that feel almost synaesthetic, heavy enough to put colours in your head. Closing track ‘Cold Luck’ shifts the focus to pure aggression, showcasing some of the band’s dirtiest and most feral vocal performances to date.

If this truly is Moneybag 1327’s final release, Hate & Vanity stands as a raw and fitting statement. Three tracks, no filler, and nothing held back.
