Over the years, Jalan P. Ramlee has moved on from the most hip, to a row of clubs that cater mostly to an after work crowd that prefers live bands and cheap beers over quality beats and cool cocktails. But all that’s about to change with Metropol.

Located on the ground floor corner of Menara Hap Seng on the other side of Jalan P. Ramlee, Metropol has the kind of spectacular view of the Petronas Twin Towers that many clubs can only wish for. Fine, straight lines and the cool glow of blue and silver meet your eyes as soon as you walk into the club, accompanied by chilled beats served up by the DJ.

Co-owned by Kelvin Lim and Colin Chung, the guys behind Petaling Jaya’s HQ9, and TTDI’s Bamboo9 and Wabisabi, Kuala Lumpur’s Metropol is split into 2 areas. The indoor area houses a long island bar (not a reference to the cocktail – it’s just long and an island bar!) and a spacious dancefloor points to a repertoire of internationally recognised DJs that will soon lend their musical touch to this chic club. Unique, slightly Baroque touches complete the classy Metropol; the fiber-optic chandeliers that are a sight to behold, and funky downlights around the bar at first glance make you think of shiny disco balls!

Plush low seating and high bar tables with their transparent and uber-cool barstools, flank the L-shaped bar at the outdoor terrace, which attracts the after work crowd and those who prefer long conversation and that terrific view we mentioned earlier.

For those who want a full meal or a quick bite, the kitchen serves a fusion menu with a set lunch available from 12nn to 3pm. The large club (almost 5000 square foot) has happy hour promos on beer buckets, on tap, or for discerning liquor and champagne drinkers, bottle promos.

DJ Fresh takes control of the decks on Wednesdays, with DJ Marco getting the ladies in the mood on Ladies’ Night on Thursdays. DJ Radz keeps the party goin’ all through Saturday night.
