Man Who Rushed Ariana Grande At Singapore Premiere Is An Alleged Serial Intruder

The Wicked: For Good premiere at Resorts World Sentosa on 13 November was the film’s only stop in Asia before the promotional tour heads to New York City.

Fans who paid over S$90 packed the venue for a chance to see stars like Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum and director Jon M Chu walk the yellow carpet.

What began as loud cheers turned into sudden shock when a man broke through a barricade and sprinted toward Grande. Videos that have since gone viral show him grabbing her in a tight embrace:

Grande recoiled, and Erivo reacted instantly to shield her while security officers dragged the man away. One guard pushed him back over the railing, drawing complaints from some nearby fans who felt the response was too forceful.

The cast quickly surrounded Grande to check on her before continuing with the event. Additional clips online later showed the intruder being escorted out, and a source told The Straits Times that he was arrested after leaving Sentosa.

The man was identified as 25-year-old Australian Johnson Wen, a figure already known for interrupting high profile events. He previously caused scenes at Katy Perry’s Sydney concert in June and at the men’s 100m final during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

His Instagram bio labels him the “2023 World Cup Final Pitch Invader” and “Troll Most Hated” and includes a donation link for unspecified bills. An earlier post from 2020 shows him yelling and climbing onto a table in a mall before performing the floss dance.

In a 10 June 2025 interview with 9News in Australia, Wen said he was unemployed and living at a backpackers hostel. He had already been banned from Accor Stadium in Sydney after intruding on stage during The Weeknd’s show in October 2024, and he had accumulated an estimated A$20,000 (~RM 54,200) in fines.

After his actions at Perry’s concert, he claimed he would stop, but the Singapore incident proved that this was not the case. After being released, he posted on Instagram saying he was “free”.

The matter is now being handled by local authorities to prevent further disturbances.
