Malaysia Records 4,498 New Covid-19 Cases, Total Case Is Now Over 400,000

Malaysia recorded 4,498 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (May 7), bringing the total number to 432,425 cases according to the Health Ministry. The last time the country saw 4,000 cases a day was back on February 4.

Selangor has the highest cases of infection at 1,424, followed by Sarawak (750) and Kuala Lumpur (436). There were also twenty-two new deaths reported bringing the death toll to 1,632.

Meanwhile, six districts in Selangor are now under the movement control order (MCO) from May 6 until May 17, which includes Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

It was also announced that Kuala Lumpur will be placed under MCO from May 7 until 20 May 2021.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob also mentioned in a press conference on May 4 that interstate and inter-district travel are strictly prohibited, except for valid reasons. Roadblocks will also be set up at district borders.
