In a surprising twist of business and wit, a Malaysian coffee shop owner faced a tough challenge when a new property owner tried to grab their successful business. The story unfolded as the property’s new boss not only hiked the rent three times, but also tried to snoop around and take over the well-loved café.

This coffee spot, known for its ‘hip’ vibe meant to cater for late-night hangouts, hit a roadblock when the property changed hands. The new owner, who used to be a regular, jacked up the rent, causing stress for the coffee shop owner who had recently spent big on renovations.

According to the kukubesi manipulasi Facebook page, after reluctantly agreeing to the crazy rent increase, the coffee shop owner got hit with more bad news when the new boss refused to renew the lease. The plot thickened as the property owner started asking staff about suppliers and even trying to sneak into restricted areas:

Facing a threat to their thriving business, the savvy coffee shop owner took a bold step. To protect their investment and stop the property owner’s plans, they decided to tear down all the recent upgrades and bring the place back to square one.

This unexpected move caught the new boss off guard, who clearly didn’t see it coming.

The premise, stripped of its recent facelift, left the property owner stunned when they got the keys back. The attempt to play money games with the coffee shop owner’s budget didn’t work, and the determined entrepreneur successfully countered the takeover.

Undeterred, the coffee shop owner then found a smarter spot to reopen their business, proving that smart moves can beat tricky business tactics! While waiting for the new spot to be ready, the owner set up a ‘mini café’ to keep things going. You can check it out here.

Interestingly, at the time of writing – five months on – the old spot still sits empty.
