Kedai Fixi
A treasury of books
The independent publishing company Buku Fixi has finally opened its physical store in the newly renovated Jaya Shopping Centre in April. It is quite literally a brick and mortar business as the shop is designed in the du jour urban industrialist fashion, as well as other features like an ornate plywood-constructed tree and a blackboard that’s updated daily with the bestselling books in store. The relatively small shop lot compacts a repository of books from Fixi’s many labels such as Fixi Verso (Malay translations of current international bestsellers), Fixi Retro (reissues of Malay-language classics), Fixi Novo (English-language Malaysian books), and the non-fiction label Fixi Mono. Besides that, there are titles from other indie publishers such as Lejen Press, Moka Mocha Ink, Dubook Press, Selut Press, and — the latest addition to Kedai Fixi’s collection – Sliverfish Books. Just as it touts on its Facebook page, Kedai Fixi demonstrates that it definitely sells the best alternative books in Malaysia.
Kedai Fixi is located at Lot 4.35-36, Level 4, Jaya Shopping Centre, Jalan 14/17, Seksyen 14, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
